At the Emerald Coast Green Wave, we're committed to ensuring that every athlete has the opportunity to shine on the field. That's why we proudly abide by the Mandatory Play Rule (MPR) set by Pop Warner, ensuring that all players get their fair share of playing time and experience the joy of the game.
What is the Mandatory Play Rule (MPR)?
The Mandatory Play Rule (MPR) is a guideline established by Pop Warner to ensure that every player on a team gets a minimum number of plays during each game. The specific requirements are as follows:
- 16-25 Players: 10 Plays
- 26-30 Players: 8 Plays
- 31-35 Players: 6 Plays
These plays must be from the line of scrimmage and must not include kickoffs, extra points, intentional quarterback spikes, or free kicks. Additionally, penalties resulting in the replay of a down do not count towards fulfilling the MPR requirement.
Ensuring Fair Play
At Emerald Coast Green Wave, we take the MPR seriously. Our coaches and staff work diligently to implement and enforce the MPR guidelines, ensuring that all eligible players receive their mandatory plays by the end of the third quarter. If necessary, players who have not yet met their play requirement will enter the game at the start of the fourth quarter and remain until they have fulfilled their quota.
Failure to adhere to MPR requirements not only violates league regulations but also undermines the integrity of the game. To maintain fairness and sportsmanship, non-compliance may result in the forfeiture of the game in addition to enforcement policies.
Our Commitment to Fairness
As a member of the Southeast Region of Pop Warner, we uphold the values of fairness, inclusivity, and respect for all players. By adhering to the MPR and providing equal opportunities for participation, we foster an environment where every athlete can thrive and develop their skills to their fullest potential.
